Who we are

This website is www.timtrottwrites.com, operated by Tim Trott. If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, you can reach me directly at tim@timtrottwrites.com.

What data we collect

Advance Readers Committee (ARC) applications

If you apply to join the Advance Readers Committee, we collect the information you submit in the application form: your full name, email address, Goodreads profile URL, and any website or social media handles you provide (Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, X/Twitter, Bluesky). This information is used solely to manage the ARC program — inviting you to review upcoming titles, contacting you about the program, and tracking which reviewers have participated.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe to the mailing list, we collect your email address (and name, if provided) through Mailchimp. This is used to send you updates about new releases, promotions, and author news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Cookies and analytics

This site runs on WordPress, which sets the following cookies:

wordpress_test_cookie — a session cookie set for all visitors to check whether cookies are enabled in your browser. It contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

Amazon affiliate links — some links on this site are Amazon affiliate links. Clicking one may set a tracking cookie on Amazon’s domain, used to credit any resulting purchase to this site. This cookie is set and controlled by Amazon, not by this site, and is governed by Amazon’s own privacy policy.

Comments

Comments are disabled so there’s no data to collect.

Legal basis for processing

We collect and process your personal data based on your consent — given when you submit the ARC application form or subscribe to the newsletter. You may withdraw this consent at any time (see “Your rights,” below), and doing so will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties. Your data is processed by the following service providers, who act as data processors on our behalf:

  • Mailchimp (mailing list management) — based in the United States. Mailchimp participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework / maintains its own GDPR-compliance safeguards for handling EU data.
  • StoryOrigin, LLC (beta reader and ARC distribution) — based in the United States. StoryOrigin maintains its own privacy policy and data protection rights process for EEA residents, available at storyoriginapp.com/privacy.

International data transfers

Because Mailchimp and StoryOrigin are both based in the United States, your data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) when you subscribe to our newsletter or sign up as a beta reader/ARC recipient. Both companies maintain their own data protection safeguards for such transfers.

How long we retain your data

  • ARC applicants: your data is retained for as long as you remain part of the program, and deleted upon request or after a period of inactivity.
  • Newsletter subscribers: your data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting past lawful processing
  • Request portability of your data to another service
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority if you believe your data has been mishandled

To exercise any of these rights, email tim@timtrottwrites.com. We will respond within one month.

Children’s privacy

This site and its mailing list are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the most recent revision..
